SWEEP's Transportation Program seeks to identify and promote the implementation of policies designed to achieve significant energy savings and reductions in greenhouse gas emissions from the transportation sector.
SWEEP's work focuses on two general strategies:
- Reduce the amount of driving by promoting transit options (such as Bus Rapid Transit), managed lanes and congestion pricing, and expansion of bike and pedestrian infrastructure
- Improve vehicle fuel efficiency by increasing the adoption of electric vehicles
We work primarily with state and local governments and a wide array of partners in the public and private sector to develop and implement policies that accomplish the above goals.
